Ragi Porridge
Before leaving to abroad I packed a powdered 3kg ragi powder and now on daily basis , my baby is fed with this nutritious food .
Ragi helps in gaining weight , nutritious with lots of health benefits that would definitely be a No. 1 option for a Mom out there.
Ingredients
Ragi powder
Water
Palm sugar ( for taste)
Milk ( small amount )
Before using the stove , stir the powdered Ragi in 2 cups of water . Stir well such that there is no lumps and then start the heating process.
Keeping stirring for 5 minutes .
In between add some palm sugar for taste ( in preference) and mik in little amount .
Continuous stirring will not form lumps and then the content becomes a little thick .

I prefer to feed my baby in a little liquid form and not much thick.
Do try to feed this powdered Ragi to your baby as a part of her daily meal. Especially if you are concerned with your baby low weight .
Cerelac.
I started with the idea of feeding her as a supplement to breast milk .
This definitely is a life saver for the mommy’s while you are travelling . I prefer to pack this item evrytime I am on a long trip with my baby and is an instant food available at the moment .
Cerelac comes with different ingredients.
Rice and wheat being the main . They are even added fruits in bites for childeren above 8 months. My first cerelac feed for my baby was wheat and dates combination that I started when she turned 7 months .

In my personal view , wheat and dates is her favourite amongst the cerelac family.
Introducing Rice and yogurt .
In her daily meal requirements , I prefer to add some more of calcium .
I learnt the idea mixing yogurt and white rice from my own mother . She finds it traditional and one of my favourite too .
We can even opt for cheese for babies and found a simple cheddar cheese in market from one of the known brands.
Other baby meals
- Dal and white rice with some mashed potato or carrot
- Sweet potato mashed up.
- Broccolli and carrot steamed and mashed.
Fruits.
Fruits are nutrient and fibre enriched that definitely a need for your growing baby.
Banana , kiwi , plums , apples are a healthy supplement for your baby .
I start with Ragi porridge as her morning meal then followed by some white rice /yogurt mix in the afternoon and some steamed vegetables for dinner .
Breastfeeding her in between the meals is always on priority .
As an evening snack , I feed her with some mashed kiwi or plum that she happily enjoys while we elders sip a cup of hot and steamed tea.
